Do you ever return fruit to the market if it is inferior?

For example, a store advertises ‘tree-ripe peaches” or ‘super sweet oranges’ and the peaches are hard as rocks without flavor and the oranges turn out to be mealy and sour.
Is it permissible to return or ask for a refund?

I think you should have checked and saw that they were good before you bought them..

I have never done that. As far as the peaches, you can tell if they are hard before you buy them.

If the fruit turned otu to be less sweet than I had wanted, I’d just go to a different store, instead of making a fuss about $3 worth of produce.

It surely is permissible to return a product that is not up to your standards. You are the consumer. A store depends on you both for your business as well as your feed back. As I used to say when I owned my own business, “If you are happy, tell your friends. If you are not, tell me.”

Ive returned strawberries the day after i bought them when they molded in the fridge over night our store offered a refund or replacement…
I think that all stores stand by the produce and if you are not satisfied with it they will offer you a replacement or a refund… call up your store and ask them if they have a satisfaction guarantee on there produce… our local market even has it on meat too.

Yes, you can return fruit if you’re not satisfied, but be aware that some fruit such as peaches might need additional ripening. Peaches ripen best at room temperature. Never keep them in the fridge as this retards the ripening process. Peaches arrive to your local supermarket under refrigeration to keep them fresh.
